Top employers 2020: why skilled workers stay

In our globalized world, it is a challenge to find suitable skilled workers. Due to the selection, the employees are very picky and pay particular attention to the factors of salary and freedom when organizing the working day. However, there is much more to these factors.

According to a StepStone study of over 20,000 managers and specialists, it was concluded that all employees value recognition and praise above all. In addition, younger people are paying more and more attention to a work-life balance and a collegial working environment should be created.

The award for top employer of the year is given so that talented people from all age groups have an orientation. The award takes into account, among other things, employee development, employee perspectives, demographics and family orientation, internal entrepreneurship as well as communication, vision and leadership.

We are one of the top employers in Germany

Our family company Baldus Medizintechnik was able to place itself among the 2,800 most popular medium-sized employers in Germany. This is the result of a study by Focus-Business and the employer rating portal Kununu.

The managing director Fabian Baldus said: "We were more than surprised when we found out about the renewed award. But the award makes me all the prouder. The reviews show that the effort as an employer pays off. We pay fair wages and offer our employees fresh fruit every day, an e-bike, a company-financed company pension scheme and health insurance. Why we are one of the most popular employers

Above all, the importance of employee development has increased in recent years. Employees must of course be encouraged and we have been following this philosophy since our foundation. There are also rhetoric courses for telephone and sales at regular intervals. Since sales are omnipresent in every situation in life, our employees also benefit from the knowledge gained in their private lives.

But before it even starts to work, integration into the existing work environment is important. However, the great working atmosphere guarantees an easy start and the flat hierarchies ensure direct contacts. In addition to work, every employee can also help themselves to the fruit basket, which is available to every employee — of course — free of charge.

The absolute highlights, however, are the company-financed benefits that every employee receives either immediately or after a few years of service. Every employee is granted company-financed and company health insurance immediately after the probationary period. From one year of service, the company pension scheme is also available, which is also financed by the company.

After three years, employees receive an e-bike provided by Baldus Medizintechnik. After six years, the company-financed health insurance is increased and additional benefits are added.

This is how it is determined as a top employer

A total of 2,800 top medium-sized employers from all over Germany are identified. There are therefore numerous applications for this. FOCUS Business and Media Market Insights, a market research company, evaluate over 750,000 company profiles for this purpose. This is done in cooperation with Kununu, because the rating platform now has over three million ratings and has a correspondingly meaningful database.

All companies with at least eleven employees and a maximum of 500 employees that have achieved a minimum number of ratings are taken into account in this study. The sum of all ratings must have an average of at least 3.5 points. At least five points are possible on the platform.

However, it must be ensured that all companies compete under the same conditions. This is achieved by comparing the rating average and the number of ratings with the number of employees.

Why is this award important?

As already mentioned, this award provides orientation for specialists. Every employee has the opportunity to choose a company through this award. Young talents in particular prefer top employers.
